Make Strategy the Foundation for Your Social Media
I was driving to a recent client meeting when a song by Maren Morris shuffled on. As a huge self-proclaimed marketing nerd — I was completely blown away by the lyrics. They describe everything about my relationship with social media strategy.
When the bones are good, the rest don't matter/ Yeah, the paint could peel, the glass could shatter/ Let it rain 'cause you and I remain the same/ When there ain't a crack in the foundation/ Baby, I know any storm we're facing/ Will blow right over while we stay put/ The house don't fall when the bones are good.
These lyrics may be talking about keeping a strong romantic relationship, but the premise of the song is something that I encounter every single day when looking at content creation for all of our brands.
Just like a solid relationship, your content also needs to be rooted in something deeper to grow an audience that is committed to growing with you.
If a love story is built upon a foundation of trust, transparency, and respect, think of creating that same foundation for your social media marketing. Without strong pillars of support, there is no solid footing for your marketing efforts.
When it comes to execution, it's easy to get caught up in half-baked ideas and rely on cheap tricks to grow a following quickly. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. While you may get small gains in the short-term, over time these tactics can be very damaging to your brand. Without a solid foundation built on strategy, the house you built may crash and fall.
So how do you create a solid strategy for your social media?
To grow your audience in a way that is going to last, your posts need to speak to your goals, mission, and values in a way that is 100% authentic to your brand. When you engrain these ideas into your social media strategy, it will show your audience why you are so special, and worth the engagement.
For this reason, Halcon loves to get to know everything about a brand before we dive into creating their content. We believe that you have an incredible story to tell, and we want to get to know what makes you stand out before we share it with the world.
